Robbery incidents are rising in the city. Four youths preparing for police recruitment were assaulted and threatened with a knife by three assailants in Jadhavwadi around 12.30 am on January 28. Cash, forced online transfers, and four mobile phones were looted.

Complainant Nikhil Burkul (19) of Chikhli and three friends had gone to Jadhavmandi for food when three men on a moped stopped them, accused them of attempting theft, and took them to a nearby building terrace, where they were beaten. Using Nikhil’s phone, Rs 1,400 was transferred to a woman’s account. Rs 1,500 was taken from Aniket Thutte and Rs 2,000 from Prasad Shingne, totaling Rs 4,900. The act was recorded on mobile phones. The assailants later demanded Rs 5,000 more and issued death threats. To recover their mobiles, the victims handed over Rs 20,000 near Bus depo on January 29 between 12 pm and 4 pm. Head constable Mangesh Pawar is investigating.
