Preserving language is essential to sustaining culture, and since science is equally necessary for comfortable material life, the two must go hand in hand said Dr. Shrirang Deshpande, Secretary General of S. B. Education Institute, while presiding over a joint celebration of Marathi Language Day and National Science Day at S. Bhu. Science College on Friday.

The occasion also saw the launch of author Dr Ranjan Garge's science novel 'Oxygen'. Dr Garge spoke about his inspiration behind the novel, while Dr Vrunda Deshpande offered commentary on it. Dr Upendra Kulkarni stressed the need for schools and colleges to inspire research across various fields including agriculture. Dr Nagesh Ankush and principal Dr Satish Patil also shared their views. Also present were Institute joint secretary Dr Ulhas Shiurkar and Dr Suhas Panse. The programme was introduced by Dr Vaishali Bhale, compered by Dr Sheetal Maher and Vinay Patil, with vote of thanks by Pradeep Patil.
