Aurangabad, March 13:

Under the 'Waste to Wealth' Mission, the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India (GoI), to recognise school, college, university students, community workers/self-help groups, and municipal/sanitary workers who are engaged in tackling the enormous challenge of waste management, scientifically and sustainably is inviting applications to award them with Swachhta Saarthi Fellowship.

The last date to apply for the Fellowship is March 19, 2021. The eligible candidates should submit their applications and other required credentials online. For details, the desirous applicants can visit the website https://www.wastetowealth.gov.in/fellowship.

There are three categories of applicants. The students from 9th to 12th standards engaged in waste management community work are listed under Category-A. The students from College/University/Institutions - UG, PG & Research students are listed under Category-B. Citizens working in the community and through self-help groups (SHGs), municipal or sanitary workers working beyond specifications of their job requirement/descriptions come under Category-C.

Title of Swachta Saarthi/award

On selection as Swachta Saarthi, the candidate from Category A will get Rs 500 per month for one year; Category B candidates will get Rs 1,000 per month; those selected under Category C will be awarded Rs 2,000 per month. Besides, the best performing fellow in each category will be recognised as the Swachta Saarthi of the month. In addition, 10 best innovative projects/initiatives/demo model/ prototypes/ reports will gain recognition under the programme at the end of the year.

The fellowship is an initiative to empower young innovators, who are engaged in community work of waste management/awareness campaigns/waste surveys/studies, etc., as Swachhta Saarthis and implement actions to reduce waste for a greener planet. The fellowship would help to continuously engage the interested students and citizens in their attempts to reduce waste in cities and rural areas, stated the organiser.
