In a case involving the murder of her husband on suspicion of his character, Amrapali Bhimrao Haibate (resident of Talegaon, tehsil Umri) has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the District and Sessions Court on May 6.

On June 15, 2019, her husband Bhimrao was killed by administering an electric shock while he was asleep, after which an attempt was made to pass off the death as caused by a heart attack. However, the crime came to light following suspicion raised by relatives.

After examining witness testimonies, evidence, and medical reports, the court found her guilty. The verdict was delivered by district and sessions court Judge Mohammed Nasir Mohammed Salim. The prosecution was represented by Adv Anuradha Davkare.
