Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Students of Mahagami Gurukul Centre for Performing Arts under MGM University displayed their artistic talent during academic performance evaluations held on May 15 and 16 at Mahagami Gurukul.

The programme featured BPA and MPA students of Kathak and Odissi, along with M.A. Musicology students. The event began with a rendition of Raag Bageshri by Shruti Jha, followed by Rudra Veena and classical vocal performances by Mrunalini Desai and Komal Nadiger. Kathak disciples of guru Parwati Dutta presented Teentaal, Jhaptaal, Rupak and Dhamar taal compositions, including works by Pandit Birju Maharaj and Jayadeva’s Ashtapadi.

On the second day, students presented Odissi performances including Saveri Pallavi, Haririha Ashtapadi and Kalyani Pallavi. Final-year students Adya Shinde and Aishwarya Mundada drew appreciation for expressive solo performances inspired by Kalidas’ Kumar Sambhava.

Mahagami officials said the stage-based evaluations are aimed at nurturing academic, artistic and creative abilities among students. The institution will also organise its 29th Sadhana Gurukul Residency from May 24 to 31.
