Aurangabad, Jan 16:

Industry and guardian minister, Subhash Desai, on Friday indicated that the Mahavikas Aaghadi government will take a decision to rename Aurangabad city as ‘Sambhajinagar’ and finalize it soon.

The issue of renaming the city is in dispute for the past few days. BJP have cornered Shiv Sena over the issue while its alliance in the government Congress and NCP are also opposing it. Congress has openly opposed the renaming while NCP said that the senior leaders of all the three parties in the Mahavikas Aaghadi will take a decision over the issue. Hence, Shiv Sena has taken a safe stand over it. However, the issue will be a burning issue in the political arena due to the upcoming municipal corporation elections, it seems.

Desai today said that Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray had already renamed Aurangabad city as Sambhajinagar 25 years back. Chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray has questioned whether Aurangzeb was secular. The Mahavikas Aaghadi will soon finalized the name of the city as ‘Sambhajinagar’, he said.

Desai indicated that the Mahavikas Aaghadi is positive over the issue. He said, the opposition are making hue and cry over the issue and posing that the alliance in the government are opposing it. However, the Mahavikas Aaghadi will bring a resolution for renaming the city as Sambhajinagar soon and this name will be finalized soon, he said while speaking to the media persons.
