Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A major fire broke out at Pranav Coatings in Waluj MIDC around 8.30 am on Thursday after a drum containing chemical-based oil caught fire and spread to nearby scrap material. The company undertakes coating work for industrial parts using large quantities of chemicals. Workers immediately evacuated and alerted the fire brigade. A Waluj fire brigade team rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after nearly an hour. The operation was carried out under deputy fire officer Anil Deshmukh, fire brigade chief L.G. Brahmankar, P.R. Nagargoje, and driver-operators R.J. Jat, S.B. Mahale and S.A. Kande. No casualties were reported, though materials inside the unit were damaged. The fire also caused a strong chemical odour in the area, leading to breathing discomfort for some workers and passersby. Police said the exact cause of the fire is suspected and no case had been registered till late evening.

Fire at eatery; materials destroyed

In another incident on Tuesday afternoon, a fire broke out at an eatery run by Sambhaji Chaudhary at the late Minatai Thackeray Market near Maharana Pratap Chowk in Bajajnagar. The blaze started while work was underway when flames erupted from a furnace and frying pan, forcing workers to rush out. Several materials were destroyed, causing financial loss, though no injuries were reported.
