After successive defeats in the Lok Sabha, Assembly, Municipal Corporation and Zilla Parishad elections, Uddhav Sena is set for a major organisational overhaul in the district, party sources said.
In the city, new office-bearers will be appointed prabhag-wise, replacing the earlier ward structure. Each prabhag will have a chief, supported by four office-bearers branch head, deputy branch head, division head and deputy division head. In rural areas, restructuring will be carried out block-wise at the panchayat samiti level, with elected Zilla Parishad members likely to be appointed as taluka chiefs. In 2024, the party faced setbacks in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls. Of the 96 candidates fielded in the municipal corporation elections, only six won. In the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti polls, contested in alliance with Congress and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, only nine candidates were elected to the Zilla Parishad. Following these defeats, the party has decided to revamp its structure. Former city chief Raju Vaidya had resigned during the municipal elections, leaving the post vacant. Ambadas Danve, who served as district chief for over two decades and later as Leader of Opposition in the state, may now be relieved of district responsibilities amid growing internal competition for the post. The restructuring is aimed at strengthening the organisation ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
