Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

City police rescued a man allegedly abducted for Rs 7 lakh from Padegaon and confined in Yeola of Nashik district within 24 hours of the crime. Two accused have been arrested in connection with the case.

According to police, Aziz Kaskar was abducted on May 5 around 9.45 am from the Kasambari Dargah area in Padegaon. The complainant stated that unidentified persons assaulted him and threatened to kill him unless a ransom of Rs 7 lakh was paid. He was allegedly taken to Yeola and locked in a room. Following the complaint, Chhawani police registered a case of kidnapping. Acting on technical surveillance and inputs from confidential informers, the crime branch traced the victim’s location to Yeola on May 6. After receiving directions from senior officials, a joint team conducted a raid and safely rescued Kaskar. The accused Janardan Ugle (38) and Vilas Avhad (55), both residents of Yeola were taken into custody and handed over to Chhawani police. Further investigation is underway by police sub-inspector Nagwe.
