Man arrested for alleged rape after taking woman to hotel on pretext of dinner

A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his friend after taking her to a hotel on the pretext of dinner in the Mukundwadi area on May 7 around 11.30 pm.

Based on the complaint lodged by the survivor, Mukundwadi police registered a case against Kapil Patekar, a resident of Jai Tower, Osmanpura, and arrested him. Police said the complainant and the accused were well acquainted. On May 7, the accused arrived in Mukundwadi in a jeep and called the woman to meet him. He allegedly told her they would go out for dinner and took her to a hotel, where he forced her to consume alcohol. When she began feeling unwell, he allegedly took her to a hotel room and sexually assaulted her. He later dropped her near the Mukundwadi vegetable market. Following the incident, the survivor approached Mukundwadi police station and filed a complaint. A case of rape has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
