A rape case has been registered at the Cidco police station against a 21-year-old man for allegedly maintaining physical relations with a divorced woman for over two years on the promise of marriage and later refusing to marry her.

The accused has been identified as Wasim Shaikh (21, Sailani Pimpalgaon in Buldhana district). According to the complaint filed by the 21-year-old woman from the Cidco area, she lives with her two minor children following her divorce. She came in contact with the accused, and their acquaintance later developed into a relationship.

On February 4, 2023, he allegedly assured her that he would marry her and take responsibility for her children, following which he established physical relations with her. He continued visiting her house and maintained the relationship but avoided discussions about marriage.

On October 5, 2025, when she again asked him about marriage, he refused and left for his native place, subsequently cutting off contact. Realising she had been deceived, the woman approached Cidco police. A case has been registered, and a search for the accused is underway.
