Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 42-year-old man was drowned at a farm pond in Pal village of Phulambri tehsil of the district on Wednesday afternoon while saving his son. The deceased has been identified as Kishor Tejrao Jadhav. He has a 5-acre farm in Pal Shivar (gut 52) and made a farm pond in one acre of this farm which is currently filled with water.

Kishore along with his son Sushil Jadhav (14) and nephew Vishal Vijay Lagad (13) were standing on the bank and removing a pipe that had been placed in the farm pond at 2 pm today when Sushil's foot slipped.

So, he fell into the water. To save him, Kishor jumped into the water. The man pulled his son (Sushil) out of the water and handed him over to his nephew Vishal who was on the bank. But, Kishor's foot got stuck in the silt of the farm pond. Due to this, he could not come up. As he did not know swimming, he drowned in water. Sushil and Vishal raised an alarm. Hearing the cries, the neighbouring farmers gathered and called the fire brigade team. After some time, the fire brigade personnel arrived.
