Aurangabad, March 1:

A man posed an advertisement on the OLX for selling his sewing machine. One fraudster posing as a customer withdrew Rs 80,000 from his account by asking him to scan a QR code sent on mobile phone on February 2.

Pundliknagar police said, complainant Balu Laxman Bodkhe 942, Gulli No. 10, Pundliknagar) works in a private company at Shendra MIDC area. He had posed an advertisement on OLX to sell his sewing machine. One fraudster called him and told him that her name is Sangeeta Gupta from Mumbai and wants to purchase the machine. The deal was fixed at Rs 16,000. She told Bodkhe that she had sent the amount to his account, and he will have to scan the QR Code sent to him for receiving the amount. Accordingly, he scanned the code but then received a message on the phone that Rs 80,000 has been withdrawn from his bank account. Bodkhe lodged a complaint at the Pundliknagar police station.
