Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The District and Sessions Court on Tuesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for allegedly murdering his wife on suspicion of character at Indiranagar area of Kannad in May 2025.

According to details, the accused Laeeq Javed Ansari (36, Kunjkheda, Kannad) killed his wife and a case was registered at the Kannad Police station on the complaint of Idris Muktar Shaikh. After committing the crime, the police immediately arrested the accused while he was fleeing towards Mumbai.

The then Police Inspector B S Bhapkar completed the investigation of this serious crime with the help of Ganesh Jain. The charge sheet was submitted in the court under the guidance of Officer-in-Charge R B Sanap. Adv A P Bagul presented an effective argument on behalf of the government.

The court, taking into account the statements of eyewitnesses, technical evidence and the sequence of events, found the man guilty. The accused was sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 50,000.
