A local court on Wednesday sentenced Baloo Dapke (39), a resident of Daregaon in Khultabad tehsil, to life imprisonment for killing a woman over a personal dispute. Additional Sessions Judge S.A. Sinha also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000, directing the amount to be given to the woman’s children.

During the investigation, police found that Dapke had taken the woman’s gold ornaments, valued at Rs 1.85 lakh, and mortgaged them to secure a loan of Rs 1.55 lakh. The court ordered that the recovered money also be handed over to the children. The crime took place on March 10, 2023. Vandana alias Manda Bai was found dead at her home.
