Aurangabad, May 12:

The Maratha community has launched a drive to erect black colour flags on their homes, to register protest against the state government, for not taking any initiative in connection with the reservation, from today.

As reported earlier, the Supreme Court had scrapped the petition relating to Maratha's reservation on May 5. The state government had not taken any decision to provide relief to the community, however, the ruling party leaders and the leaders of the opposition are blaming each other.

The drive began with the erection of black colour flags on the house of the local coordinator of Maratha Kranti Morcha (MKM) and the petitioner, Vinod Patil, from today. The erection of flags will continue till the community welfare issue is not resolved. MKM coordinator Appasaheb Kudhekar, Thok Morcha's Ramesh Kere Patil and others were also present on the occasion.

Vinod Patil said, " Our protest is not against the judiciary. The state government has not taken any initiative or made any alternate arrangement in connection with the Maratha reservation. Hence we have started the protest. We will not come on the roads due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation. Each life is important for all. I appealed to the community members to erect black colour flags on their houses as the protest."
