Aurangabad, Dec 30:

The Maratha Kranti Morcha will go to Delhi as soon as the Lok Sabha winter session begins to demand reservation for the Maratha community, said Kishore Chavan, coordinator of the Maratha Kranti Morcha at a press conference here today.

Chavan said the Maratha Kranti Morcha is going to protest in Delhi to get a reservation for the Maratha community at the central level and to take immediate steps to increase the reservation limit. He said that proper preparations are underway for this march. Before the SEBC reservation was postponed on September 9, it was demanded that the candidates from the Maratha community who had been selected for government service should be immediately re-appointed by giving appointment letters. The 10 per cent reservation of EWS for Maratha students should be made optional, the state government should fix the admission of Maratha students from the management quota and their tuition fees should be paid by the government as per SEBC reservation. Abhijeet Deshmukh, Suresh Wakde, Manoj Gaike, Sukanya Bhosale, Rekha Vahtule, Manisha Marathe were present on this occasion.

The 102nd amendment does not stand in the way of Maratha reservation. The 102nd amendment by the National Commission for Backward Classes does not infringe on the right to reservation for other backward classes of the state. The state government may grant reservation to any caste in its own right. They do not need permission from the central government. Chavan said that the state government should send a letter to the commission with recommendations in this regard.
