Marathwada dams brimming: Major reservoirs at 97%, medium projects at 92%

Heavy rains over the past few days have filled Marathwada’s dams, with major reservoirs now at 97% capacity and medium projects at 92%. Minor projects across the region have reached 85% storage. Water resources officials expect most dams to remain full as rainfall continues in the coming days.

Of Marathwada’s 11 major dams, eight key reservoirs Jayakwadi, Yeldari (Parbhani), Majalgaon (Beed), Manjara, Upper Penganga, Lower Terna, and Sina Kolegaon—are between 99% and 100% full. Among the remaining three, Lower Dudhana holds 75%, Vishnupuri 65%, and Siddheshwar (Hingoli) 90% water.

Minor projects overflowing

Across 754 minor dams, storage has reached 85%. Latur (135), Beed (126), Nanded (80), and Hingoli (27) have reservoirs completely full. Jalna’s 60 small projects hold 75%, Dharashiv’s 206 have 78%, and Parbhani’s 22 dams are at 88% capacity.

Medium Projects at 92%

Marathwada’s 75 medium projects across eight districts are 92% full. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’s 16 projects are at 70%, Jalna’s seven at 85%. Beed (16) and Parbhani (2) projects are full. Dharashiv (17) and Nanded (9) projects have 95% storage, while Latur’s eight projects are at 90%, officials reported.
