The municipal corporation has intensified its crackdown on major tax defaulters with just 44 days left to recover property and water tax dues for the financial year ending March 31. On Saturday, officials sealed 32 shops and a study center at Sapna Market on Pundliknagar Road, triggering panic among traders.

Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Aparna Thete, ward officers targeted establishments with outstanding dues exceeding Rs 1 lakh. Sapna Market traders collectively owed over Rs 11.28 lakh in unpaid taxes. Assistant Commissioner Rahul Jadhav and his team executed the sealing operation after repeated notices failed to prompt payments. Following the action, some traders rushed to clear their dues, offering payments and cheque submissions. The administration is expected to review these submissions on Sunday before taking further steps. The operation was carried out by special tax officer G.V. Jadhav, Dattatray Kenekar, Sanjay Sable, Mirza Akbar, Anil Gade, Santosh Rathod and others. Deputy Commissioner Thete urged all defaulters to settle their pending taxes immediately to avoid further action.
