Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Satara police have arrested a married man, Ajabsingh Mansingh Bahure, on charges of emotionally blackmailing and threatening a deserted woman, allegedly coercing her to abort her pregnancy by threatening to commit suicide.
According to the police, Bahure, despite being married and having two children, allegedly lured the woman with promises of marriage and established a physical relationship with her. Fearing that the illicit relationship would be exposed, he later began pressuring her to terminate the pregnancy.
The 40-year-old woman stated in her complaint that she has been living in the city after separating from her husband. In 2019, she met Ajabsingh Bahure (43), a resident of Ranjangaon near Kamlapur Phata, in connection with work. Frequent interactions brought them closer, and despite knowing that he was married, the accused allegedly promised to marry her and developed a physical relationship.
The complainant further stated that she became pregnant several times in the past, during which the accused allegedly forced her to consume abortion pills. A few days ago, when she became pregnant again, she insisted that Bahure marry her. To conceal the relationship, he allegedly threatened her and emotionally blackmailed her by saying he would end his life if she did not abort the foetus.
Distressed by the harassment, the woman approached the police and lodged a complaint. Based on her statement, PSI Nandkumar Bhandare registered a case of rape against Bahure on January 28. The accused, who works as a field security officer in a private company, was arrested on Wednesday night.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Nirmala Rakh.
