Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A 26-year-old married woman was allegedly abducted after being threatened that her husband would be killed, and was repeatedly raped. Based on her complaint, MIDC Waluj police registered a case on Wednesday against Girjaram Pawar (27), a resident of Ranjangaon.

The victim, who works in a private company, knew the accused for a year as they had earlier worked together. On January 2, around 8.30 am, while she was going to inquire about a job at an NRB company, the accused threatened to kill her husband if she did not accompany him. Out of fear, she went with him to Tuljapur, where he kept her in a rented room near the temple till January 11, allegedly preventing all contact with family. She stated that the accused snatched her phone when she tried to call her father and continued issuing threats. He later took her to Ahilyanagar, Karjat, Wadod Kanhoba, Tajanapur and Bazar Savangi, where he allegedly forced physical relations on her against her will. After the victim’s husband lodged a missing complaint and police contacted the accused’s relatives, he brought her to MIDC Waluj police station. The woman also alleged she was threatened not to disclose the abduction. Further investigation is underway.
