Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Traffic on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalgaon highway was disrupted for nearly three hours on Friday after two trucks broke down consecutively in Ajintha Ghat, blocking both sides of the narrow road and causing hardship to tourists visiting the Ajintha Caves.
At around 8 am, a truck (KA-23-A-4681) heading towards Jalgaon suffered brake failure and veered into a roadside drain along the hill-facing edge. Traffic moved slowly. Later in the afternoon, another truck (RJ-11-GC-1063) carrying watermelons to Delhi also developed brake failure, hit another vehicle, and turned sideways in the middle of the ghat, completely blocking the road and leading to long queues on both sides. The situation worsened as drivers of small vehicles and two-wheelers attempted to squeeze through narrow gaps, further complicating the congestion. Eyewitnesses said discipline could have eased the clearance. Fardapur police officer Rajendra Salvi, constable Firoz Tadvi, and home guards rushed to the spot and, after sustained efforts in the heat, cleared the stranded vehicles and restored traffic after nearly three hours.
