Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

For the past seven years, waste transfer stations have been operating at various locations in the city without causing any inconvenience to nearby residents. “Why has trouble suddenly started now? No interference in solid waste management will be tolerated,” said mayor Sameer Rajurkar, indirectly targeting the AIMIM party.

Two days ago, some AIMIM corporators visited the Hudco N-12 waste transfer station and allegedly issued threats to remove vehicles, prevent their return, and stop waste from being brought to the station entirely. On Monday at 5 pm, a protest was held at the same transfer station, led by party’s state leader Imtiaz Jaleel. Opposition leader Abdul Sameer, group leader Haji Sherkhan, corporators Osama Abdul Qadir, Mateen Khan, Ashok Hiwrale, and Kunal Kharat, along with a large number of party workers, were present. During the protest, Jaleel informed deputy municipal commissioner Nandkishore Bhombe about the inconvenience caused by the station.

Officials explain to protesters

Bhombe listened to the protesters’ concerns and then took them inside the transfer station, showing how the centre has been modernised further. The city has a total of five such stations, none of which will be closed under any circumstances. Protesters were assured that their concerns would be conveyed to the municipal commissioner.

Reduced citizen inconvenience

In reaction to the AIMIM protest, mayor Rajurkar said that a new company has been introduced in the city to make it cleaner and more beautiful, equipped with modern vehicles. Modern machines are being installed at the transfer stations, ensuring that nearby residents will experience minimal inconvenience in the future. “Even so, if anyone interferes, it will not be tolerated. Ultimately, the administration will carry out its work,” he added.
