Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Last year, 50 per cent of citizens paid their property tax, while 1.81 lakh property owners failed to pay their dues. Mayor Sameer Rajurkar, on Friday, has directed ward officials to pay greater attention to the recovery of pending tax arrears.

On Friday, the mayor conducted a review meeting at Ward No. 8 office. Deputy Commissioner Vikas Navale informed that 1,000 new properties were identified in April and brought under the tax net.

The mayor instructed officials to identify new properties more effectively and to launch a campaign for recovering taxes from property owners who defaulted last year. He also noted that 1.43 lakh property owners had paid their taxes last year and should be encouraged to continue paying in the current financial year.
