As per the High Court’s ruling, elections for nine members of the Maharashtra Medical Council are being held on Thursday.

A total of 41 candidates are in the fray, district collector Deelip Swami informed. Only medical professionals registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council as of December 31, 2024, and those who have renewed their registration are eligible to vote. Accordingly, 4,352 voters from the district will participate in the election. Each voter has the right to cast nine votes. The list of registered medical professionals will be provided by the election authorities. The voting process will take place at the Government Medical College on April 3, from 8 am to 5 pm. Candidates and their representatives have been urged to be present at the polling station at least an hour before the voting begins.
