Medical student who consumed poison dies

Aurangabad, Jan 2:

A student from Nanded district, studying in the second year of MBBS in a government medical college who had consumed poison on Monday, died while undergoing treatment in a private hospital on Friday night.

The deceased is identified as Yash Narsingrao Gangapurkar (25). Yash was living with his mother and sister in a rented room at Begumpura. On December 25, he tried to commit suicide by drinking poison. He was admitted to GMCH for treatment. He was later admitted to a private hospital in Garkheda area for further treatment. However, his condition worsened on Friday and died in the night. According to police, the cause of the suicide is not known. After the autopsy, the body was taken to Nanded by family members for cremation.

Police investigating all angles

Yash was a bright student. Hence police are investigating why he committed suicide and from where he bought poison. Earlier, a doctor had committed suicide by taking poison from saline. Now this second incident has come to the fore. A case of accidental death has been registered at Begumpura police station, and head constable Rajkumar Jadhav is investigating the case.
