In a unique moment during a workshop at the government medical college and hospital’s(GMCH’s) Mahatma Gandhi Hall on Monday, medical students enacted a scene inspired by the film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. One student asked the dean, “Is it necessary to fill a form in casualty?”, surprising the audience. It was later revealed as a planned act, drawing smiles and applause.

The act was part of a pre-conference workshop for the three-day interdisciplinary research conference IRCON. The session on ‘Mind, Body & Wellness’ was inaugurated by dean Dr. Shivaji Sukre, vice-dean Dr Kashinath Garkal, cancer hospital special officer Dr Arvind Gaikwad and doctors Vaishali Une, Archana Patil-Vare, Gayatri Tadwalkar, D.M. Darade, and others. During the session led by Dr. Shailaja Rao, students highlighted health issues such as obesity through creative performances. Garima Achalya spoke about mental health and social attitudes.

180 research papers presented

A total of 180 research papers were presented across six halls at GMCH. The official inauguration of IRCON is scheduled for Tuesday at 11 am.
