Aurangabad, April 5:

Members of Maharashtra English Schools Trustees Association (MESTA) burnt the copies of Government Resolutions at Zilla Parishad office, Chelipura, on Monday in protest against wrong government decisions.

In a memorandum submitted to the education officer, the MESTA office-bearers stated that the Government should give permission to open the school or honorarium for the survival of teaching and non-teaching staff.

“There are six lakh teachers and 1.50 lakh employees of the schools who are struggling for survival. They cannot get salary as parents are not paying fee nor government is providing us with any assistance,” they said.

The association said the schools did not receive a fee refund of admissions done under the Right to Education Act for the past three years.

“This has forced us to take to the street. Some of the staff members ended their lives due to financial problems,” they added.

Its joint secretary Manish Hande, city president Raju Nagarkar, Nanasaheb Parbhane, Pravin Agrawal, Navnath Pawar and Gajanan Nalamwar were present.
