A 22-year-old milk collector died on the spot and another youth was seriously injured after a speeding tempo rammed into their pickup on the Vaijapur–Puran Gaon road near Navkar Tirth around 7:30 am on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Shubham Dilip Shete (resident of Bhaggaon).
According to information, Shubham Shete was engaged in milk collection work. On Wednesday morning, he and his friend Khushal Dattu Nimse (18) were travelling in a pickup vehicle for milk collection when a speeding tempo (MH 42 AQ 8824) coming from the opposite direction hit their vehicle at a curve near Navkar Tirth. Both sustained serious injuries.
While being shifted to Government medical college and hospital (GMCH) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for treatment, Shubham succumbed to his injuries on the way. Khushal is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Vaijapur.
Shubham was the only son of his parents and is survived by his parents and three sisters. A case has been registered at Vaijapur Police Station.
