Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A minor drug-addicted youth has been detained by the Crime Branch in connection with multiple midnight robberies in Jawaharnagar and Jinsi areas on May 10 and 12, and sent to a juvenile observation home.

Police said incidents of robbery, theft and impersonation have increased in areas including Cidco, Mukundwadi, Pundliknagar, Jawaharnagar and Waluj over the past six months, with drug-addicted youths often involved. In one case, rickshaw driver Govind Kajale (30) was robbed near Mondha Naka flyover on May 11 after the accused boarded his vehicle and later threatened him with a knife, escaping with Rs 300 and the rickshaw. During investigation, the minor was traced and confessed to another robbery at knifepoint on May 10. Police said he already has around three prior cases of theft and robbery registered against him.
