Aurangabad, Dec 23:

MLC Satish Chavan demanded to start School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) in the city. He met Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant at Mantralaya on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum.

It may be noted that the union Ministry of Education had announced establishing six new Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) in June 2014. The IIM sanctioned for the city was shifted to Nagpur at the eleventh hour. The then chief minister had announced to allot SPA to the city. Six years passed since its announcement, and nothing was done on Government.

In the memorandum, the MLC stated that people were upset after IIM was shifted to another city.

“People were asked whether the then CM had given the assurance to pacify them. I raised the issued time and again in Assembly session. Just an assurance, nothing was done. Maha Vikas Aghadi is on power across the State now. People of Marathwada have high hopes from it,” he added.
