Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

MLC Sanjay Kenekar raised the issue of the city development plan in the state legislature, demanding its cancellation. He alleged that large-scale irregularities and corruption have occurred under the guise of urban development.

Kenekar said that several temples have been marked as ‘affected’ in the plan. Despite Supreme Court orders, attempts were made to compromise certain religious sites. He brought this serious issue to the attention of the House. According to him, the plan threatens numerous heritage temples and public facilities in the city. He also pointed out that significant modifications were made in the plan despite public objections.

While addressing the government, the MLC demanded that the flawed development plan be immediately suspended and cancelled, a high-level impartial inquiry be conducted into the matter, and that officials involved be kept away from the process until the inquiry is completed.
