Thieves stole a bag belonging to a passenger who had fallen asleep at the Cidco bus stand, decamping with a mobile phone and a gold ring.

The incident came to light around 2 am on March 31. Vijay Maher, an LIC agent residing in Nyaynagar, had gone to the bus stand that night to travel to his native village. While waiting for the bus at around 11 pm, he fell asleep at the premises. When he woke up at around 2 am, he found his bag missing. The bag contained his mobile phone and a gold ring weighing approximately one-and-a-half tolas. A case was registered at MIDC Cidco police station on April 3. Meanwhile, the increasing presence of thieves in and around the bus stand and repeated incidents of theft targeting passengers have raised serious concerns over commuter safety.
