Aurangabad, Nov 12:

The work of setting up of Anganwadi in cantonment area has been hampered again due to the implementation of model code of conduct for the Marathwada graduate constituency elections. As per the Aurangabad Cantonment Board (ACB) officials, it may take next up to six months for setting up the Anganwadis.

Till now, the residents of the cantonment area were not getting any benefits of various schemes from the central or state government. However, the members of the Chawni Janadhikar Manch followed up with the Child Welfare Department, Ministry of Defense, and central and state governments and demanded that the citizens of the area get the benefit of government schemes including Anganwadi for children. But their demands were sidelined. Hence the members filed a petition in the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court. The court had then ordered to start 13 Anganwadis in the cantonment area in March 2020. Therefore, it was expected that these Anganwadas would start this year. The ACB was also preparing to publish an advertisement for the Anganwadis. However, the implementation of the model code of conduct has again delayed the process. According to ACB officials, the process of setting up of Anganwadi would be completed in the month of April next year.
