Motorcyclists snatch chains of two women

Aurangabad, Feb 19:

Gold chains weighing 10 tolas were snatched in two different incidents in the city in just half an hour on Friday between 7.30 am and 8 am. The incidents occurred at Gajanannagar, N-11 Hudco and Kirana Chawdi while cases have been registered at Cidco police station and City Chowk police station respectively.

Sunanda Sharad Patil (53), a resident of Gajanannagar, N-11, Hudco was working in the front yard of her house. An unknown person on motorcycle came and stopped in front of her house, but she ignored him considering that he might have come to her neighbor. She was busy in her work again, the man on the motorcycle came near her and snatched her chain from the neck. Patil hold the chain tightly, but the thief managed to take away a piece of chain weighing around 5 to 7 grams. She shouted for help and her son and neighbours came out of house but the thief had left until then. A case has been registered at the Cidco police station. Meanwhile, the thief was captured in the CCTV camera of this area.

In another incident, Shakuntala Jaichand Shethi (74) was going to the Jain temple at Rajabazar when a motorcyclist snatched her chain weighing 9.5 tolas at around 8.20 am at Kirana Chawdi. As she started shouting for held, the nearby residents Shubham Chabda, Kiran Pahade and Vijay Sethi ran for help. A nearby laundry owner tried to grab the thief but he managed to escape. Her son Anand then informed the City Chowk police about the incident. PI Sambhaji Pawar, PSI Kashinath Mahadule, crime branch PI Avinash Aghav and others rushed to the post and inspected the crime spot. A case has been registered at City Chowk police station.
