Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A case has been registered at the City Chowk police station against 14 corporators of the AIMIM party for allegedly abusing officers from the encroachment removal department, obstructing official action, and aiding encroachments. Following this, the municipal corporation has accelerated efforts to serve notices regarding their potential disqualification. This has caused a wave of concern among the AIMIM corporators, who are reportedly making strong efforts to avoid possible notices or action.

In Shahaganj, the municipal administration had prohibited the installation of handcarts. Defying this, AIMIM corporators personally installed the handcarts. At the location, a municipal encroachment removal team was present, which the corporators allegedly harassed and drove away. As a result, just two days ago, a case was filed at the City Chowk police station against MIM opposition leader Abdul Sameer, corporators Syed Usama, Kakasahab Kakde, Feroz Khan, Meraz Khan, Mohammad Wajed Jahangirdar, Sohail Qureshi, Mohammad Wasim, Mateen Patel, Munshi Patel, as well as the husband of a corporator, Salim Sahara; the son-in-law of a corporator, Saber; the father of a corporator, Amjat Chachu; and 30–40 other party workers. Under Section 10-1(D) of the Municipal Corporation Act, if corporators obstruct encroachment removal operations, disqualification proceedings can be initiated against them. Accordingly, steps have been taken to serve notices to the concerned corporators. After the notices are served, their responses will be heard before the administration decides on further action.
