M.Phil course to continue in BAMU

The Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) has the highest number of students for MPhil and PhD research compared to other universities in the state. Although this course has been omitted in the new academic year, the admissions will continue for the course for the current academic year, said, vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole here on Friday.

A meeting in this regard was held recently. After extensive discussion in the meeting, it was decided to continue the course in the academic year 2020-21. This course is not included in the new educational policy of the central government. However, this policy will be implemented in the year 2022. Therefore, considering the demand of the students, this course has been continued. The number of students in the department will be determined on the basis of the number of professors working in the department as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission. Accordingly, information was sought from all the department heads as to how many students can be admitted for M.Phil course. At present, M.Phil courses are being implemented in 10 out of 18 departments in the university with grant and 8 departments do not receive any grant. Grants are offered for courses in Marathi, Hindi, English, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Public Administration, Mathematics and Commerce. Courses like Library and Information Science, Pali-Buddhism, Urdu, Computer Science, Physical Education and Journalism and Mass Communication are being run on a non-grant basis.

Online CET on November 20

M.Phil admission to the courses will be given through CET. Registration can be done online from November 1 to 10. The online CET will be held on November 20 and the results will be announced on November 21. The admission process will start in the next ten days and classes will begin from December 1. All the students who appeared for the final session examination of the postgraduate course are eligible to sit for the CET, informed the deputy registrar of the postgraduate section, Dr Digambar Netke.
