Aurangabad, March 11:

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) state services preliminary examination aspirants staged demonstrations against the decision of the commission to cancel the examination scheduled on March 14. The aspirants agitated near the statue of Mahatma Phule at Aurangpura to condemn the decision on Thursday afternoon.

The agitators demanded that the examination should be conducted on the scheduled date and shouted slogans against the government. This exam was cancelled on three occasions earlier stating the reason of Corona crisis. Hence, the students were very upset. Now, the exam was cancelled for the fourth time and hence they got annoyed and agitated on the streets. The police were in chaotic situation as the students started the agitation all of a sudden.

DCP, Nikesh Khatmode, ACP, Hanumant Bhapkar, PI Ganpat Darade, Sambhaji Pawar and others rushed to the spot and tried to console the agitators. However, they were not in the situation to listen the police.

After some time, BJP city president Sanjay Kenekar, Vijay Autade tried to gain control over the agitation but the agitators foiled their attempt.

The SFI, NSUI, ABVP activists also entered the agitation and shouted slogans against the government. However, no one had led the agitation and the students voluntarily participated in it. They took the stand that they will not leave the place unless any decision is taken regarding the examination.

Meanwhile, 19,656 students were to appear for the examination in 59 centres in the city. The preparations for the examination was done under the guidance of District collector, Sunil Chavan and deputy district collector, Rita Maitrewar. Around 600 employees were appointed for conducting the examinations smoothly in the city and a training session was also organized for them at the district collectorate tomorrow on Friday.

A student, Chandrakant Misal said, the state service preliminary examination was organized in March last year but it was cancelled due to the Corona crisis, then it was again cancelled in September. Now, the exam scheduled on March 14 has been postponed again. The government can conduct this examination by following the guidelines, he said.
