The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has completed the tendering process to develop seven important roads by spending funds of Rs 51.76 crore. Hence the MSRDC informed the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to complete the pending land acquisition process and remove encroachments from the seven roads on a war-footing basis so that it could start the development works soon.
The MSRDC officials and the shortlisted contractors had inspected the seven roads last week. The proposed seven roads along with its valuation (in rupees) are as follows: District Collectorate to Salim Ali Lake (10.98 crores), Varad Ganesh Mandir to Laxman Chawadi (12.55 crores), Jaffar Gate to Mondha Naka (9.43 crores), Police Mess to Katkat Gate (7.75 crores), Naubat Darwaza to City Chowk along with bridge (5.75 crores), Madani Chowk to Central Octroi Naka (4.25 crores) and Gopal T to Utsav Mangalkaryalaya (2.53 crores).
Earlier, the state government had announced Rs 152 crore road development scheme for the city and awarded the responsibility of constructing roads to three different government agencies - MSRDC, Maharashtra Industries Development Corporation (MIDC) and AMC.
MSRDC will develop seven roads of valuing Rs 51.76 crore, MIDC will develop seven roads of valuing Rs 50.04 crore and the AMC will develop nine roads of valuing Rs 50.58 crore. All the three offices had not received funds from the state government, but MSRDC completed the tender process, and MIDC is also following its steps. The cash-strapped AMC, however, is hoping to get funds from the state government as it deprives of money in its exchequer.
