The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is set to strengthen its ‘Aapli ST’ mobile application by integrating nearly 16,000 buses into its digital network. The move is expected to significantly improve reliability and make the app more effective for passengers across the state.
Real-time tracking facility
The app will enable passengers to track running buses on any route using the service number mentioned on their online ticket or the bus number, offering precise, real-time location updates.
Timetable and live updates
Passengers can access bus timetables and schedules for the next 24 hours. The app will also feature the Passenger Information System, displaying live bus stand boards directly on mobile phones.
Nearby bus stand feature
The ‘Bus Stand Near Me’ option will help users locate the nearest bus stop using live location and suggest alternative nearby stands for added convenience.
My favourite and support system
The ‘My Favourite’ feature will allow users to save frequently travelled routes or stops for quick access. A dedicated support section will provide details of MSRTC divisions, depots, contact numbers, email IDs, as well as information about depot managers and stand incharges.
Female passenger perspective
A female passenger said the app will enhance safety, especially during night travel, as live tracking will allow family members to monitor bus movement and ensure a more secure journey.
Officials’ view
“ Compared to private operators, government services operate on a much larger scale. Once fully functional, this app will significantly enhance the travel experience for MSRTC passengers,” said divisional controller Pramod Nehul.
