The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped and detained Harun Aziz Shaikh (56), naib tehsildar (Class II) at Sillod tehsil office, and Yuvraj Abhiman Tayde (56), a Setu Suvidha Kendra operator, for allegedly demanding and accepting a Rs 10,000 bribe on Monday.

A 45-year-old tractor owner transporting minor minerals with a valid permit alleged that on April 4, 2026, Shaikh seized his tractor claiming excess sand transportation and demanded Rs 25,000 to release it and allow smooth operations. After a complaint was filed, verification on April 6 confirmed the demand. Shaikh agreed to settle for Rs 15,000 and directed that Rs 10,000 be handed to Tayde. During the trap laid the same day, Tayde was caught red-handed accepting Rs 10,000 and was taken into custody, following which Shaikh was detained from the tehsil office. The bribe amount and a Vivo mobile were seized from Tayde, while a mobile was recovered from Shaikh. A case is being registered at the Sillod city police station, and both accused are being arrested. The operation was conducted by police inspector Valmik Kore under the supervision of deputy superintendent of police Rajiv Talekar. Further investigation is underway.
