Namaz at 21 mosques today; tight security in place

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

On Ramzan Eid, namaz will be offered at 21 major mosques, with large gatherings expected at Cantonment and Rosabag Eidgahs. Police have imposed tight security and closed routes to these Eidgahs till afternoon.

Police Commissioner Praveen Pawar reviewed arrangements and ordered strict vigilance with continuous patrolling.

Security deployment:

• Cantonment: Under DCP Pankaj Atulkar ACP, 7 inspectors, 10 PSI/ASI, 150 personnel, 15 women staff, CCTV and plainclothes monitoring

• Rosabag: 2 inspectors, 3 PSI/ASI, 25 personnel, 5 women staff

• 75 sensitive spots: Armed police

• 3 riot control units, 2 QRTs, 2 SRPF units on alert

• Foot patrolling at 18 locations

• Citywide: 27 inspectors, 63 PSI/ASI, 1,115 personnel, 92 women staff, 11 videographers

Traffic curbs (5 am–12 noon):

• Milind Chowk–Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University gate

• Dr Ambedkar Law College–Panchakki Gate

• Hudco Corner–Uddhavrao Patil Chowk (one side closed)

Citizens advised to use alternate routes.
