Aurangabad, April 26:

“There is a need to develop Intellectual Property culture in India which has become a country of the highest number of young people in the world,” said Dr Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, Innovation Cell of union Ministry of Education.

He was speaking in a web conclave on ‘Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs): Taking Your Ideas to Market’ on Monday by the Intellectual Property Rights Cell of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) to celebrate World IP Day.

Vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole presided over the programme. Director of SGGS-Nanded Dr B M Naik, Somen Majumdar (vice-president, Mahindra Automotive) were present. IPR Cell director Dr Pravin Wakte made an introductory speech.

Dr Abhay Jere said that the Central Government had promoted research and innovation through initiatives like ‘Make in India, Digital India, Atal Incubation Centre, Start-Up.’

He said that the Central Government had made enough financial provisions for the initiatives.

“Projects like ÍNSPIRE’ are being undertaken to create a love for entrepreneurship among students from school,” he added, Vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole said that the universities should become innovation centres, not just remaining as examination and convocation centres.
