Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Various religious and social initiatives are undertaken in the city during Ramzan. The Global Foundation, based in Aam Khas Maidan, implemented an innovative initiative titled ‘Earning with Dignity’ by presenting 50 deserving young individuals with handcarts along with goods. Last year, 200 handcarts were distributed. The beneficiaries continue to earn their livelihood with dignity.

Over the past two to three months, the Foundation gathered information about several deserving youths. During this survey, it was observed that they required assistance to sustain their livelihoods. A list of 50 beneficiaries was prepared. Several philanthropists came forward to contribute to the initiative. New handcarts were prepared at a cost of ₹8,000 each. Each beneficiary was asked what type of goods they required for their cart. Some requested materials for selling tea, while others asked for vegetables or footwear. Accordingly, goods worth ₹2,000 were provided to each individual.

The handcarts were distributed by Syeda Seema Fatema, President of Darul Infa Foundation (Hyderabad), and retired deputy chief executive officer Mukeem Deshmukh. The citizens who received handcarts last year are currently using them to support their families. The programme was compered by S K Ziya.

Appeal to give ‘zakat’ and ‘sadaqah’

During the holy month of Ramzan, devotees offer Zakat and Sadaqah. The Foundation has also been working in the medical field for many years. Masiyoddin Siddiqui said that contributions of Zakat and Sadaqah would reach the poor and needy through the Foundation.
