Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

IndiGo’s night flight service on the Mumbai–Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Mumbai route will operate from Navi Mumbai Airport starting March 29. However, passengers have expressed dissatisfaction, as travelling from Navi Mumbai Airport to Mumbai city and its suburbs is currently very time-consuming. The change is also expected to create inconvenience for those catching international flights from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

At present, IndiGo operates both morning and night flights to Mumbai, both of which were earlier run from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. With the implementation of the summer schedule from March 29, the evening/night flight service will now be shifted to Navi Mumbai Airport. Accordingly, the last flight landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Saturday night, and from Sunday onwards, this service will operate via Navi Mumbai Airport. Only the morning flight will continue to operate from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

Follow-up efforts to continue

Efforts were made to ensure that the night flight service continues from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. However, from Sunday, it will operate from Navi Mumbai. Once the prevailing war-like situation eases, further follow-up will be done to restore the service from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

Inconvenience to passengers

Passengers arriving at Navi Mumbai Airport will have to travel to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport for international connections. It may take at least two hours by road to reach Mumbai city or its suburbs from Navi Mumbai Airport. Considering the need to reach the airport early before departure and then undertake long road travel afterwards, some feel it may be more convenient to travel to Mumbai by car from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar itself.
