Aurangabad, Dec 3:

As per the new policy of the government, sand mining contracts will be auctioned in the district this year. Proposals for mining at 20 selected sand belts in the district were tabled before the meeting of the environment committee. But no decision was taken. The sand belts include, 8 in Sillod, 1 in Gangapur, 4 in Kannad, 6 in Vaijapur and 1 in Phulambri tehsil. The revenue from sand auction in the district is about Rs 100 crores. There are a total of 43 sand belts in the district.
