Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The RTO office conducted a special drive on Tuesday against tankers operating without fitness certificates, valid permissions, or with unauthorised vehicle modifications, which have been posing a serious accident risk in the city. During the drive, memos were issued to 31 tankers, while 29 were seized, and a total fine of Rs 4,46,250 was imposed.

Inspection revealed that several tankers were plying without registration number plates, valid fitness certificates, or other essential documents. Some vehicles were also found transporting water beyond their permitted capacity due to unauthorised modifications, raising concerns for other motorists.

Following the action, seized tankers were lined up outside the RTO office. Vehicle owners rushed to the office, but officials maintained a strict stand, directing them to pay the fine and complete the fitness inspection before release of their vehicles.
