Water supply disruptions are common in several city areas. The Municipal Corporation allows residents to request tankers if water is not received on scheduled days.

Currently, over 20 tanker trips are made daily. The Corporation uses private contractors, as it owns no tankers. Water cuts are caused by pipeline breaks, power failures, and other issues, delaying supply by 1 to 4 days. Residents often depend on private tankers or bottled water. Earlier, the Corporation had stopped tanker supply due to the lack of its own fleet. Recently, Administrator G. Sreekant directed the water supply department to resume tanker services in affected areas. Executive Engineer K. M. Phalak confirmed that 15 to 20 localities now get tankers daily, especially where system faults exist.

90 tankers, 350 trips

In areas without pipelines, especially unauthorized layouts, two contractors operate around 90 tankers, making over 350 trips citywide. During summer, demand rises, but the tanker count remains unchanged.
