Notices to MPCB officers for delay in issuing permits
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) local office has been delaying issuing permits to companies. MLA Pradeep Jaiswal This issue was raised in the legislature. Acknowledging the irregularities in issuing permits, Environment Minister Pankaja Munde informed the House that two MPCB officials have been served notices in this regard.
Various companies have announced an investment of around Rs 53,000 crore in the DMIC (Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. To start operations, companies are required to obtain permits from the MPCB’s regional office. However, the authorities have been delaying the issuance of permissions, citing technical issues, which have adversely affected the industrial sector.
The Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Association (Massia) and other industrial organisations had raised this issue with Industry Minister Uday Samant.
Responding to the question raised by MLA Jaiswal, Environment Minister Munde acknowledged the irregularities in issuing permits and confirmed that notices have been issued to the regional and sub-regional PCB officers, asking for explanations.
