The Local Crime Branch arrested a notorious burglar from Beed, Arun alias Avadya Kale (25), for breaking into two houses in Chikalthana and Pachod on the same day. Police seized Rs 5,000 in cash and 16 grams of gold sold to a jeweller. On January 22, the accused broke into the house of Sominath Hulsar (40) at Khodegaon under Chikalthana police limits, stealing gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 2.26 lakh. Another housebreak was reported the same day at Honobachi Wadi in Paithan tehsil. Under the guidance of LCB inspector Vijaysingh Rajput, sub-inspector Mahesh Ghuge traced the accused using CCTV footage. He was arrested on January 26 while entering Shahagad village. During interrogation, Kale admitted selling the stolen gold to a Shahagad jeweller and spending the cash at a festive event. Police recovered the gold with the help of the crime branch team.
